Early last year I found myself in the position of needing substantial structural work (spanning three floors) to be carried out on my house. Finding a builder wasn’t easy. I was very relieved to find (after several months) Axminster Design and Build! Axminster Design and Build offered to do the work, and so I sent a copy of the structural report. The lads from Axminster Design and Build set to work after a couple of days, and completed the work after a very short amount of time! Communication was really good and I found them to have a good grasp of what needed to be done. Their teamwork was superb and I was consistently treated with courtesy and respect. The kitchen was reinstated, everything made good. Lovely job!

We are delighted with both the end result and the approach taken by Dave and the team. As with all projects, there were ups and downs, but in every instance the team responded positively and quickly, coming up with workable and sensible solutions. Dave was attentive and made me feel like his only client – he even took me to the gym (which I think he regretted more than me!). We had talked about having an extension to our kitchen for several years but had always put it off because the work would have involved moving a stone retaining wall of considerable length together with a flight of stone steps. We finally bit the bullet in March 2023 after talking to Axminster Design and Build and being given the confidence by Dave that it was a very doable project. Building, or should I say demolition of the old kitchen commenced exactly on time. We wanted to replace the existing kitchen which was rather narrow and dark with a modern kitchen/utility room extension having a vaulted ceiling and Velux windows but from the outside looking very much in keeping with the existing cottage. The team worked hard to demolish the old stone wall taking away tons of spoil in the process to make way for the new extension, a difficult undertaking considering the heavens opened a week into the start of the work and continued for the next 4 weeks. Undaunted, Bob and the rest of the team worked on having to cope with standing ground water and ankle deep mud and only stopping when it became impossible to carry on.

Excellent work, totally transformed our house. Really professional but very understanding and accommodating. Would really recommend the Axminster Design and Build team.

Thank you for a professional job well done. I know it evolved as you went along and found all the underlying problems that you dealt with on the hoof – perhaps expected with a 300 year old house. Your friendly team were experienced and capable of doing lime work properly. Final clear up and minor snags completed to our satisfaction.

Axminster Design & Build installed a five-sided window in the front gable end of our property, so we now have an excellent sea view from the attic bedroom! It wasn’t a large project, but all aspects of it were managed professionally by Dave and his team. It involved a number of trades, and everyone who worked on the job was very friendly, co-operative and capable. The project was completed on time, within budget, and with the minimum of disruption, so we are very pleased. We would certainly recommend Axminster Design & Build.

Dave and his team did a great job for us on the front of our very old thatched cottage repointing all the stone work with lime mortar. He started on time as promised and finished without any delays. Excellent professional team comes highly recommended.
